My name is Joseph DeSisto and I’m a student at the University of Connecticut. My goal is to become  a Professional Bug Person, whatever that means. In the meantime, I enjoy learning as much as I can about the amazing diversity of life on our planet, then sharing what I learn with anyone who will listen.

This website is a self-imposed challenge. Every weekday that I am able (i.e., have internet access), I will write a short story about a recently-discovered new species. Here’s the catch: the new species description has to have been published that day. Ultimately I hope to write about subjects that span the diversity of life, from microbes to plants to insects and everything in between.

If you’d like to know when I post a new article, you can follow this blog via e-mail (click on the little box that says “Follow” in the upper-right corner of this page) or you can follow me on twitter @Joseph_DeSisto.
